Two Rivers Bands get busy for the Ilkley Arts Festival

Two Rivers Swing Band have two upcoming gigs as part of the Ilkley Arts Festival 2022.

The group will hold one of their popular Dance events at Ilkley Winter Garden on Friday November 25, with three sets packed with big band favorites and sparkling vocals, plus jive lessons by Bradford-based 2/- Jive will have everyone dancing the night away. Doors open at 7:30 p.m. Music and dancing from 8 p.m.

Musical Director and Star Trumpeter Trevor Vincent said, “We look forward to another success from Two Rivers Winter Garden, and also to working again with dance teachers Debbie and Mark from 2/- Jive. The band is playing really well at the moment and we learned some new numbers especially for the occasion. It should be a great evening.

Tickets cost £15 and are now on sale via the band’s website www.tworiversbands.org.uk and are also available from Grove Bookshop.

The group will also contribute to the Festival with their Winter Concert 2022 at All Saints Church, Ilkley the following weekend on Saturday December 3 with doors opening at 7 p.m. and musical start at 7:30 p.m.

Music Director Mike O’Farrell has planned a varied and entertaining evening featuring music from Lincolnshire (“A Lincolnshire Posy” by Percy Grainger) and Mexico (“Danzon No 2” by Arturo Marquez) as well as character elements festive.

There will be two special concert appearances, young trumpeter Freddie Taylor will play Oscar Böhme’s Trumpet Concerto in G Minor and the All Saints CoE Primary School Choir.

Entry is just £10, including program and in-between drinks, plus delicious cakes baked by the band members. Tickets can be purchased in advance online via www.tworiversbands.org.uk or Grove Bookstore. They will also be available at the door. Youth 16 and under can participate for free.

There will be a charity drive to benefit the Alzheimer Society, one of three charities that band members have voted to support.

Two Rivers Bands President Les Goldman said: “We are returning to the beautiful surroundings of All Saints Church for another winter concert. We are delighted with how the band has progressed over the past year and are particularly excited to expand our collaboration with All Saints Primary School, which began when we performed at the Platinum Jubilee celebrations of the school in May.
