Netflix’s “red notification” has been hugely popular since its release, and having names like Dwayne Johnson, Ryan Reynolds, and Gal Gadot certainly didn’t hurt. Is the film good? I mean, yeah, it’s a perfectly acceptable action comedy. Nothing to write home about, but it’s still not a bad way to kill time. As for the random-action movie from the 2000s, this week’s spot belongs to Jamie Foxx / Gerard Butler’s thriller “Law Abiding Citizen”. My only theory on the consistency of the 2000s action thriller appearing in Netflix’s top 10 is that a bunch of dads end up with these movies after a hard day because they’re still remarkably average movies with huge stars. that most people have forgotten even existed. Is it worth watching? Of course, as long as you understand that you are going to get something clear to try and catch the money train launched by “Taken”.
As for the best movie of the week, Netflix users all watch Sandra Bullock’s mystery thriller, “The Unforgivable”. Bullock is a seminal Netflix favorite, featuring another smash hit for the service, “Bird Box”. In it, she plays an ex-convict who was jailed for killing a cop. Now she’s trying to find her younger sister, whom she hasn’t seen in 20 years, while the cop’s son stalks her and takes revenge. It’s not a perfect movie by any stretch of the imagination, but Bullock really goes all out in this one and it’s always exciting to see a female-led action flick.
