Bloodstock 2022 lineup so far:

Behemoth’s Nergal and other rock stars unmasked:

Slipknot’s Shawn ‘Clown’ Crahan Unmasked

Slipknot # 6 percussionist Shawn Crahan unveiled his new silver clown mask to the world when Iowan’s Masked Steelworkers premiered the dreaded single “Unsainted” in May 2019. Outside of the day at work with Slipknot, the Shawn Crahan Unmasked is an acclaimed director and photographer.

Ghost’s Tobias Forge (aka Papa Emeritus) unmasked

Flanked by his band of nameless ghouls, Tobias Forge has adopted a number of papal appearances over the years; from the various incarnations of Papa Emeritus to Cardinal Copia. Right, Tobias Forge without his mask at the 2019 Grammy Awards.

Mick Thomson from Slipknot unmasked

Slipknot Guitarist # 7 Mick Thomson’s metallic hockey mask is so perfectly formidable that it has remained relatively unchanged for years. Right, a maskless Mick Thomson crossing the streets of New York in 2019 before Slipknot’s appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live.

Buckethead unmasked

The very enigmatic guitarist, who wears a KFC bucket on his head, revealed his true identity on the self-released 2013 album ‘Pike 13’. It poignantly portrays a young Buckethead – real name Brian Carroll – without his mask and hugging his late father.

Slipknot’s Jay Weinberg Unmasked

Slipknot’s Sid Wilson Unmasked

Sid Wilson’s # 0 turntablist Slipknot mask changed drastically in 2019 from his more traditional skull and gas masks to a distorted, almost Palpatine human mask with black robes. Right, Sid Wilson without his mask at the Slipknot: Day Of The Gusano premiere in Beverly Hills.

Limp Bizkit’s Wes Borland Unmasked And Without Makeup

Chameleon-like Limp Bizkit guitarist Wes Borland constantly comes up with shiny new looks for the band’s concerts. Merging a mask with crudely painted makeup, this brilliantly disturbing appearance is like a cross between Salvador Dali, the Joker, and a demented aristocrat. Here is Wes Borland without his mask and makeup during a photoshoot in 2017.

Slipknot’s Corey Taylor Unmasked

The appearance of Slipknot’s No.8 singer Corey Taylor became a sinister translucent mask in 2019. As the frontman of Stone Sour – and arguably Slipknot’s most famous member – unless you live under a rock over the past two decades, you’ll know what Corey Taylor looks like without his mask on.

GWAR Blothar Unmasked

Following the untimely death of singer Oderus Urungus (aka Dave Brockie) in 2014, GWAR recruited Blothar – aka Michael Bishop – as the new frontman with a pig-headed goblin appearance. Right, Blothar without his mask and extravagant costume speaking at a TED talk in 2015.

Slipknot’s Alessandro Venturella unmasked

Slipknot bassist Alessandro “Alex” Venturella’s mask changed from a burlap mask to a patterned copper mask in 2019. The awesome guy on the right is Alessandro Venturella without his mask.

Paul Stanley of KISS unmasked and without makeup

Slipknot’s Jim Root Unmasked

Slipknot # 4 guitarist Jim Root has worn a jester mask throughout his career with only minor changes in design. Why change from perfection ?! Jim Root is immediately identifiable even without his mask thanks to his luscious and voluminous beard.

Behemoth’s Nergal unmasked and without makeup

One of the most notable mainstage performers at Download Festival 2019, Polish blackened death metalheads Behemoth – led by the fearsome lead singer Nergal – have always graced striking makeup on stage creating an enigmatic aura. Former Slipknot percussionist Chris Fehn unmasked

Before leaving Slipknot under somewhat acrimonious circumstances in April 2019, No.3 Chris Fehn wore a distinctive Liar Mask – aka the Pinocchio Mask. On the right, Chris Fehn without his mask at the premiere of Shawn Clown Crahan’s “Officer Downe” in 2016.

KISS’s Gene Simmons Unmasked And Without Makeup

On stage and wearing his signature makeup, Gene Simmons adopts the character of The Demon.

After the death of the late Eric Carr in 1991, new drummer Eric Singer did not adopt his character from The Fox; instead, he resurrected the appearance of The Catman from original drummer Peter Criss.

Tommy Thayer of KISS unmasked and without makeup

Joining KISS permanently in 2002, Tommy Thayer jumped straight into Ace Frehley’s platform heels and took on his makeup design The Spaceman.

Ghost Nameless Ghoul Unmasked

In March 2017, a Swedish musician called Martin Persner shared a video claiming that he was once an unnamed ghoul in Ghost called Omega. He left the group in July 2016 after a seven-year stay.
