In honor of Women’s History Month, it felt fitting to take some time out and show my love to a few of my favorite women in horror movies and TV shows from Netflix. In general, talking about women in horror is one of my favorite hobbies so I could go on about these ladies.

From killer babysitters to wicked witches to telekinetic teenagers and everything in between, Netflix has amassed quite a large library of horror content in recent years, and that includes heavyweight women in horror.

The Women of The Haunting of Hill House

It’s too hard to choose only one woman The Haunting of Hill House, a standout entry on this list from excellent director and storyteller Mike Flanagan. Based on the novel of the same name by iconic author Shirley Jackson, The Haunting of Hill House became a massive, critically acclaimed hit for Netflix upon release. The series spawned a partnership between Flanagan and Netflix that gave us the sequel, The Haunting of Bly Manor and Midnight Masswith at least two more Flanagan series on the way.

There are also some great male characters in this series, but I think most of us would agree that Hill House belongs to the Crain women. From family matriarch Olivia (played by the always stunning Carla Gugino) to Victoria Pedretti’s heartbreaking portrayal of Nell Crain to Kate Siegel kicking a** as bisexual Theo Crain to Elizabeth Reaser anchoring the season as than Shirley Crain, it’s too hard to pick just one of these lovely ladies so I pick them all!

And that’s not even mentioning the bright young female actors who portrayed the characters in their younger years, like McKenna Grace, Lulu Wilson and Violet McGraw, all of whom went on to successful careers, with Grace and Wilson appearing in several other horror movies. . films and projects over the years.
