Flashbacks are good, sexual innuendos and the act itself are better. You'll won't just read ANY slash-fic, it would have to be good, well written, the couple well thought out *cough*spike and angel*cough*.
Your favorite couple, getting to know eachother and slowly falling in love against the backdrop of apocolytic circumstances, jossian writing and no closure. That makes for a good read.
Bloodplay, Bondage, all kinks all the way! And in depth descriptions if you catch my drift ;)
