Bad Situations »

When is it OK to tell someone to calm down? I’m having a discussion with someone about weither or not it helps in an arguement - she claims that it’s ‘correcting’ someone and not soothing, and while I see her point I don’t feel it’s either. If there’s a big situation I’d say ‘calm down’ to keep the situation from escalating. What do you think?
